Navi
By Gene Aronowitz
Navi is one of my favorite people
in all the world. She isn't really a person -
just seems like one. She's the voice
of my GPS. I tell her
where I want to go;
she tells me how to get there.
Navi is omniscient.
Sometimes
my destination changes
or I know a shortcut. If I don’t do what Navi suggests,
She doesn’t feel
humiliated, offended, broken-hearted,
disregarded, defeated, deflated,
devalued, or disempowered.
She doesn’t pout. She doesn’t cry.
I never hear a mournful sigh.
No! No! No! It’s not like that at all
Navi just tries something else:
“What do you think of this route instead?
No? … Well, how about that one then?".
I once wondered if Navi would
get fed up with my indifference
maybe even suggest a trial separation
but no!
Never!
I wish I was like Navi. She’s my role model.
Never, ever gets upset and
never, ever gives up.
